為什么叫這場演出“高架上”？為什么穿褲子？早上為什么起床？玩音樂為什么？為什么用那種奇怪的方式反復給人家解釋？你為什么不直接說，有一回看到落日照在高架上，陽光和水泥，燦爛、自然的美麗和粗野、人造的實用好像魚水相融，在那個時刻你發覺無意義的一切都是必要的，故而將萬物的相互關系看得清清楚楚？為什么非要那樣解釋，只能讓意會的東西無法言傳，只能殺死那個時刻的奇妙。

Why call a show ‘On an Overpass’? Why wear trousers? Why get out of bed in the morning? Why play music? Why write a blurb in this strange, repeated question format? Why not just say you saw a sunset on an overpass and felt something about how the light met the ugly, blocky concrete said everything that could be said about the ecstatic pointlessness of life? Why not just say that?…

LiveChinaMusic invites a trio of bands known not only for their melodic drive but also their abilities to craft stories through song - with visiting Hangzhou act The Pump joining seasoned Shanghai bands The Flying Game, and Waidiren.

Hangzhou’s The Pump have been making a name for themselves for some time but their recently released debut The Crowd Dances for You 眾人為你起舞 has put them to the forefront of Chinese indie scene. While elements of new wave, synth pop, alt rock, psych pop, and even 90s era Chinese rock and roll skirt around the edges of the band’s sound the band’s music has a narrative thrust to it not often seen in the indie scene these days. Rustic, sincere and crafted with grave conviction and a bittersweet yearning - it's art rock with an undercurrent of Mandopop twisted in on itself.

 

杭州的 The Pump 樂隊在他們令人印象深刻的首張專輯《眾人為你起舞》中把一切都展現了出來。盡管新浪潮、合成器流行、另類搖滾、迷幻流行，甚至 90 年代的中國搖滾樂元素都在樂隊聲音邊緣徘徊，但這張唱片有一種敘事推力，這今天的獨立音樂場景中并不常見。樸實、真誠，帶著嚴肅的信念和苦樂參半的愿景--這是華語流行的暗流纏繞的藝術搖滾--與嘎調、新褲子和低苦艾的所有人相呼應，同時建立起自己的身份。

 

 

 

Speaking of debuts, indie rock wranglers Waidiren will be releasing their debut EP - 晚點再說 - this evening. A wily mix of rustic blues, crusty alt rock, and nimble post rock, with spry guitar-led melodies and cock-eyed lyrics that sway between tenderness and anxiousness - the band is looking to make a splash this year. 說到首發，獨立搖滾樂隊外地人將在今天晚上發布他們的首張EP——晚點再說。他們狡猾地混合了質樸的藍調、質地堅硬的另類搖滾與靈動的后搖滾，擁有以活潑的吉他主導的旋律與在溫柔和焦慮之間搖擺的歌詞——這個樂隊希望在今年引起轟動。

 

 

 

Shanghai’s The Flying Game 飛行游戲, have been bringing sincere ingenuity to their noise rock indie sound for quite some time - filling their irresistible melodies with dynamic instrumentation and angst-ridden emo aplomb - they’re one of our city’s most dependable bands for a reason.
