《第十二夜》是2025年在劍橋莎士比亞戲劇節（Cambridge Shakespeare Festival）中展演的六部作品莎士比亞經典劇作之一。該戲劇節由英國杰出作曲家、指揮家，著名音樂與戲劇研究者大衛·克里利（David Crilly）于1988年創辦于英國劍橋， 距今已有近40年歷史，每年夏季在國王學院、圣約翰學院、三一學院、唐寧學院等劍橋大學主要學院的院士花園里舉辦，表演季長達8周。

INTRODUCTION  劇情簡介

 

Twelfth Night, or What You Wil is one of William Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, believed to have been written around 1601 – 1602. The play derives its title from the Twelfth Night holiday, the final night of the Christmas season, traditionally a time of revelry and the overturning of social norms.

The story begins with a shipwreck off the coast of Illyria. Viola, believing her twin brother Sebastian to be drowned, disguises herself as a young man named Cesario and enters the service of Duke Orsino. Orsino is hopelessly in love with the Countess Olivia, who has sworn to mourn her dead brother for seven years and refuses all suitors. Orsino sends Cesario to woo Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia falls in love with Cesario instead—unaware that Cesario is actually a woman. Meanwhile, Viola herself has fallen in love with Orsino, creating a tangled web of unrequited affection.

A parallel comic subplot involves Olivia's household: her pompous steward Malvolio, her drunken uncle Sir Toby Belch, the foolish suitor Sir Andrew Aguecheek, the witty gentlewoman Maria, and the wise fool Feste. When Malvolio threatens to spoil their merriment, they conspire to humiliate him through an elaborate prank involving a forged love letter.

The play reaches its joyful resolution when Sebastian arrives in Illyria alive, leading to revelations, reconciliations, and multiple marriages.

Dr David Crilly / 大衛 ·克里利博士

Dr David Crilly is a renowned British theatre director, composer, and Chairman and Artistic Director of the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival. He established the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival in 1988 whilst still a member of Magdalen College, Oxford, where he undertook doctoral research in musicology. The Festival has become one of the UK's five most influential independent arts festivals, performing annually in the summer across the main colleges of Cambridge University, attracting over 40,000 ticket holders each year, with a history spanning nearly 40 years.

As a composer and conductor, Dr Crilly has performed on many occasions as an orchestral conductor in Cambridge. He served as Director-in-Residence for Anglia Opera for eighteen years. He is also an independent researcher in Music and Drama and has published extensively on semiotics, music analysis and aesthetics, and on the music of Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy and Charlie Parker. He recently returned from lecture tours of India, Oman, Namibia, South Africa, China and the USA.

David  Rowan  is  an  associate  Director  at  the  Cambridge  Shakespeare  Festival and Creative Drama Practitioner. He trained at the Guildford School of Acting. He has been an Associate Director to the Cambridge  Shakespeare  Festival  for  over  thirty  years.  He  has  directed  seventy  productions  of Shakespeare plays in that time. Outside of the Festival he has worked extensively as an actor, writer and director for the Thorndyke Theatre, the Redgrave Theatre and Channel 4's Just Write series. As a theatre practitioner he has taught at Blackheath Conservatoire and St George's College and Blundells School. He is the Chair of the Trustees of Riverhouse Arts Centre and Galleries.

Andrew Stephen is a senior actor. He has over thirty years of stage experience including fifteen seasons with the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival: roles since 1994 include, King Lear, Macbeth, Iago, Benedick, Petruchio, Bottom, Oberon, Leontes, Pericles, Angelo, Shylock, Prospero, Richard III and Hamlet. Film credits: Andrew played the villainous presenter in 'Dark Game' (2024) and has roles in the soon to be released 'Better', and the recently shot 'For the Good of the Herd' and 'Fortitude' with Nicolas Cage, which are both currently in post-production. TV credits include 'Silo'(2023), 'Suspect: The Shooting of Jean-Charles de Menezes'(2025) and 'I Fought the Law' (2025).

Marianne James  is  a  senior  young  actress  at  the  Cambridge  Shakespeare  Festival  and  independent theatre creator. She trained in Acting at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance after reading English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford (Trinity College). Her roles include Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (Cambridge Shakespeare Festival), Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (China Tour), Olivia in Twelfth Night (Cambridge Shakespeare Festival), Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra (Cambridge Shakespeare Festival), as well as the lead role Mary in the independent film CBK and Jenny Cimmerian in the feature film A Life in Twelve Notes.

In  2023  she founded Bloodline Theatre Company, whose recent production of new writing show PANACEA, in which Marianne played the role of Julia, received five-star reviews on their regional tour (London, Birmingham and Liverpool).

Alongside acting, Marianne lectures in Drama at the Tavistock and Portman Institute (University of East London) and teaches English and Drama to A Level and above.

Charlie  Culley  is  a  senior young actress  at the  Cambridge  Shakespeare Festival, English Language Drama Tutor, and playwright. She studied English Literature at Durham University before training in Professional Acting at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance (attended by Harry Potter cast members). Her theatre credits include Chris/Mr T in Panacea by Bloodline Theatre Company (UK Tour), Dr. Mercy Herberg in Materectomy (LFS, short film), Viola in Twelfth Night (Cambridge Shakespeare Festival), Witch  in Macbeth  (Cambridge  Shakespeare  Festival),  and  Puck  in A  Midsummer Night's Dream (China Tour).

Currently, she is developing work as a playwright, collaborating with a range of directors to workshop and stage original plays across venues in London. In addition, Charlie teaches English, History and Drama to students in China and the UK.

Brandon Mayfield is a senior young actor and combat director with the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival. He played the title roles in 'Coriolanus' and 'Macbeth' at the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival. During the China Tour, he played three roles in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (Demetrius/Flute/Moth). In 2025, he became co-stage combat director at Festival in 2025. Most recently he appeared in 50 Cent's new TV series 'Fightland' as a stunt performer.

He is currently training for the BSR (British Stunt Register) which involves developing expertise in several disciplines, including; Martial arts, High diving, Scuba diving, swimming and horse riding.

Barbara Houseman), Brutus in Coriolanus (CSF), Banquo in Macbeth (CSF), Explorer in The Rabbit (Short film) and in spring of 2025 toured China as Lysander/Quince in A Midsummer  Night's  Dream  (CSF).  Recently,  he  starred  in  a  highly  impactful  commercial  on  men's mental health collaborating with Andys Mens Club. In 2025 he became co-stage combat director at The Cambridge Shakespeare Festival.

Ellis'  study  and  acting  technique  centres  around  movement  psychology  (Yat  Malgrem),  Miesner technique (Sanford Miesner) and The System (Stanislavski).

Niamh Deasy is an actor, singer and co-creative director of Rampage Theatre Company. She trained at Rose Bruford College in London (BA Hons Acting) and graduated in 2023 with first-class Honours. Recent acting credits include Gaslight by Patrick Hamilton with the English Theatre of Hamburg (2025). She has also portrayed Victoria Carlisle in the feature film Inherent (2023) by Ross Jameson and Lily in The Lodger (Lion and Unicorn Theatre, 2024).

Niamh  has  worked  extensively  in Shakespeare productions  - credits include; running educational workshops on Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream in King ’s College, Cambridge (2023) along with performing in Love's Labour's Lost and A Midsummer Night's Dream (2024) and Twelfth Night and Macbeth (2025) at the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival.

With Rampage Theatre she has produced Cianalas (Kings Head Theatre, 2024) and Every Great Man (Cockpit Theatre, 2025). Other credits include Hamlet (Ophelia), Three Days in the Country (Natalya Petrovna) and The Adding Machine (Mrs Zero).

Pippa Haddow / 皮帕 ·哈多 - 飾  Feste  費斯特

Pippa Haddow is a senior young actor with the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival. She graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2023. Her notable roles include Audrey and Le Beau in As You Like It, Volumnia in Coriolanus, and Hermia in A Midsummer Night ’s Dream.

劍橋莎士比亞戲劇節資深青年演員 。皮帕 ·哈多畢業于倫敦音樂與戲劇藝術學院 。她的主要作品包括：《皆大歡喜》 中的奧德麗和勒博 、《科利奧蘭納斯》 中的瓦拉里婭 、《仲夏夜之夢》中的赫米婭等。
