本次工作坊的靈魂人物——Walter Blanding先生，本身就是一段爵士傳奇。

34年輝煌職業生涯，他的音樂足跡遍布全球頂級音樂廳與交響樂團，淬煉出對爵士樂深刻而獨特的理解。

25年林肯中心爵士樂團成員的經歷，讓他深諳世界頂級樂團運作與精粹的核心法則。

更為難得的是，他并非遙不可及。作為林肯爵士樂上海中心大樂隊的領袖，他將國際級的視野與對本地音樂生態的洞察融為一體。

這一次，他將毫無保留地分享他的智慧與經驗。

Led by saxophone legend Walter Blanding, leader of the JALCSH Big Band. With 34 years of global performance experience and 25 years as a Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra member, he brings world-class insight directly to our stage.

Walter Blanding是一位享有國際聲譽的薩克斯演奏家，擁有超過34年的藝術生涯，其音樂足跡遍布全球。他于1991年憑借專輯《Tough Young Tenors》初露鋒芒，該專輯被譽為其年度最佳爵士唱片之一。自此，他以卓越的音樂與精神影響力持續在世界五大洲留下印記。

他參與錄制超過40張專輯，最新專輯《Fantasy in Blue》旨在探索文化差異與共融之美。出生于俄亥俄州克利夫蘭，在紐約長大，他曾旅居以色列四年，被《新聞周刊》國際版稱為“以色列爵士大使”，并在當地創辦音樂學校。2018至2020年，他擔任林肯中心爵士樂上海分部爵士大使，致力于藝術與文化推廣。目前，他在密歇根州立大學擔任爵士薩克斯助理教授，持續通過音樂教育影響新一代音樂人。

Walter Blanding** is an internationally acclaimed saxophonist with over 34 years of artistic career, performing across the globe. He first gained recognition with the 1991 album *Tough Young Tenors*, hailed as one of the year's best jazz recordings. Since then, he has left his mark on five continents with his exceptional musical and spiritual influence.

He has performed and recorded with numerous contemporary music giants, including Cab Calloway, Billy Eckstine, Roy Hargrove, Branford Marsalis, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, and Joshua Bell. As a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for 25 years, he has shared the stage with legendary figures such as Chick Corea, Dave Brubeck, Willie Nelson, Tony Bennett, and Elton John. Additionally, he has collaborated with world-class orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Blanding has received numerous accolades, including a Pulitzer Prize for his contribution to the Wynton Marsalis Quintet album *From Billie Holiday to Edith Piaf*, and has been part of Grammy-winning projects. He has performed at the inaugural celebrations for both President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama. His screen appearances include *The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel* and *The Cosby Show*, and he has been inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

He has participated in over 40 albums, with his latest release *Fantasy in Blue* exploring the beauty of cultural differences and commonalities. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in New York, he lived in Israel for four years, where he was dubbed "Jazz Ambassador" by Newsweek International and founded a music school. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Jazz Ambassador for Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, dedicated to arts and cultural promotion. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Jazz Saxophone at Michigan State University, continuing to influence a new generation of musicians through education.
